Dark Water

Another graphic piece I did. With no school... no assignments... I created an assignment for myself. I would pick a song I really like right now, and try to illustrate it. This song title is "Dark Water" by a cool little band called Tigercity. Used a reference photo, eva green :), applied layers on illustrator, went to photo shop, played around with backgrounds... added some texts... and voila!

CSULB foundation show
I had four of my artworks shown at the CSULB foundation show this week. The first is the red, yellow and peach colored composition centered on the bottom row. It was from 2-D design. The middle two are pen and ink drawings done in drawing. The landscape of is done with a stylus on cold pressed and the one below that is of flowers and shrubs done with a brush on hot press paper. The last is a portrait done in life drawing of a women.

Midterm Redone
This is a reproduction of Johannes Vermeer's "Woman Holding a Balance." It is actually a redo of a midterm I had to do for life drawing. I took the other, (The Geographer) down because it had a horrible critique in class. Hate to look at it every time... She said "Don't take it the wrong way, but it looked like someone with Parkinson's disease did it..." Suffice to say, this one didn't have the same responses.

Edward Burtynsky

Haven't really been able to listen to any notable artists these past couple of weeks. We had one lady who attempted to combine art and scientific data. What resulted was one of the most boring lectures by an artist ever. I did see Manufactured Landscapes, a documentary on Edward Burtynsky and his works. Quite an interesting film, i suggest it. Really makes you think about the cost of progress, aesthetic potential in unappealing areas of the world, and tons of other themes.

3D Project
This is the first project I did for Intro to 3D Design. The project was mainly about creating objects from a starting point, and showing a variety of figures ranging from geometric to more organic. We started off by creating a grid on foam core, after that it was basically do whatever you want! i startd with the wooden dowels on the upper left. I worked my way down, left to right. The figures on the top right are my organic shapes. I used a hot gun and melted plastic around my dowels, copper wire and string to creat an organic shape that can tie in to my very geometric vertical shapes. The large shape at the bottom was a collective of the shapes I made prior. I got an A-... He didn't give any A+s or As... So i'm happy.

The Introduction

Um... So a friend of mine told me that it would be a good idea for me to create a blog. Hoping to go into graphic designing... I guess it's never too early to post artwork, designs and what not. I'm pretty lazy, and i don't usually accomplish a lot of solo projects... hopefully that will change. I'll try to start by posting my final projects from foundation drawing and intro to 2-D design from last semester... as soon as i get my hands on them. I'll throw in some random stuff here and there as well... Damn... its 4:09 AM... I should get to sleep soon...
